Verona, Italy, September 27, 2010 - Cuba v Brazil press conference.

Brazil captain Giba: “This match was an anticipated great final. Two of the best teams of this Championship were protagonist of a great Volleyball show. The victory tonight wasn’t important only to get the top of the ranking of this group but also to get the chance of a next “easier” second phase group. We will play against Poland and Bulgaria: it will be so hard but if you want to go to Rome’s final, we have to fight with everybody and beat them.”

Cuba captain Robertlandy Simon: “It was a big show for Volleyball, as well as for everybody who attended the match. We planned this match as the most important one of this group. Team level game was good during the five sets: it was hard but finally we got it.”

Brazil coach Bernardinho Rezende: “It was a high level match. Now the way to Rome is getting harder and harder: Bulgaria and Poland are two very competitive teams. Our target is Rome but it won’t be easy. The entrance of Giba only in the fourth set was just a strategy due also to the sudden cramps of Murilo. Something in our game wasn’t excellent but I can’t say that our performance was not good. Cuba had to be and actually was a hard contestant.”

Cuba coach Orlando Blackwood: “Beating Brazil is never easy: tonight we demonstrated a good mentality level during all the match. We improved this important feature, useful to face the strongest teams in the tournament. So, we’ll go on in the second round and we have to keep this positive mood.”
