Milan, Italy, September 27, 2010 - Iran v Italy press conference.
Iran coach Hossein Madani: "Despite we missed the qualification for the second round, we will definitely not give up and we will immediately start training for the Asian Games that will take place in about a month"
Iran captain Nadi Alireza: "Today we played with one of the best teams. We played really well but, considering the difficulties we had during the second set, we do not deserve to get access to the second round"
Italy coach Andrea Anastasi: "Our main goal is to win every single match and my players are always training properly therefore I am proud that we managed to win although it was not one of our best matches. I would like to congratulate in particular with Lasko, Travica, Vermiglio and Sala that gave an important contribution to the result of the match."
Discussing the future plans for the team:
“I have not changed my plans: I actually did not help my team for today’s match because I trained them physically this morning but this was made in order to have them perfectly ready for the next round in Catania. I decided that Parodi would not play today as he was undergoing too much physical stress."
Discussing about the teams Italy will compete against:
“Germany is definitely a high-level rival, as we experienced during the test-match before the Championship, they have a great coach and great players. Puerto Rico has well-established players but I will have plenty of time to study their situation in detail”.
Italy captain Valerio Vermiglio: "We played well the first two sets but Iran managed to respond properly to our offence. Luckily, we found the way to solve the situation and we closed the match. I would like to give my congratulations to them and I am happy that we managed to focus properly and win the match."
Talking about the next round:
"Before playing we obviously could not know the following rival teams. But I personally think it will be possible to play good matches against all the teams that will be in our pool, we will have the opportunity of prepare every single match because every team will play their best cards."
