Canada fully deserved to win - Grbic

'We have to be back fully focused for the next game with Poland,' said Serbia captain Nikola Grbic

Nikola Grbic, Serbian captain: “Congratulations to Canada, they really deserved to win. I cannot say that we played really badly, certainly our performance was not as good as yesterday but their victory is more resulting from their merits than from our own mistakes. Now we clean up and we have to be back fully focused for the next game with Poland.”

Igor Kolakovic, Serbia’s coach: “Canada played a very good match, especially their block-defence system was really effective. The difference was made by their good performance and by our bad approach. We had a bad day and now we have to regroup and concentrate on the game against Poland.”

Louis-Pierre Mainville, Canada’s captain: “We really enjoyed playing that game as Serbia is one of the strongest teams around. In comparison with yesterday we made not as many mistakes, it was overall a very good game and our block-defence system worked out perfectly. We are more than happy with this victory.”

Glenn Hoag, Canada’s coach: “I have a deep respect for Serbia as they are technically a team we want to emulate. Yesterday night they played a fantastic game with Germany, so today our plan was to reduce our errors and implement our game plan. Serbia made more mistakes than we did and this is a good result for such a young team, even though this may not be enough to move on to the next round. We’ll see.”
