Small number of mistakes was key - Giacobbe.

A very happy Egypt side after winning the opening match of Pool A in Milan against Iran

Iran captain Nadi Alireza: "Egypt played a wonderful match. I would like to give my congratulations to them. We tried to give our best but we did not manage to overcome them."

Iran coach Hossein Madani: "I would like to give my congratulations to Mr. Giacobbe and his team. We could not impress against them during the match. We had problems with reception, I am sure we will play better and we will manage to control the atmosphere of the Championship."

Egypt captain Abouelhassan Ashraf: I am very happy because it is the first time we have beaten Iran for a while. We know they are a very good team, I am proud of my team-mates, they played very well. I think our blocking and serving were the key points for us."

Egypt coach Antonio Giacobbe: "I personally believe our teams are not that different, we play almost at the same level but, as we know, every match has just one winner. We did not make many mistakes and that is why we managed to win. I think Iran played well and I am very proud to meet the other trainer and captain since I was their coach in the past therefore I know that they are very good players. It was just apparently an easy match for us."

Giving his impressions about Italy and the other matches of the pool:
"It is weird for me to speak about Italy from a different perspective since I am training abroad. I think we should never underestimate the other teams. Italy and Japan are both high-level teams and Japan has not won at international level recently therefore they are definitely dangerous as they will be trying to seize the opportunity to improve."
