Indonesia open account with convincing win
Indonesia, led by the dynamic duo of Rizqon Aris Achmad and Nyoman Rudi Tirtana, posted their first victory of the 2006 Men's Volleyball World Championships First Round Tournament Asia Pool C with a convincing straight sets victory at the expense of Tonga.

Indonesia, whose players come from different semi-pro leagues, found the going tough only in the early part of the first set before wrapping up the win in a little under an hour.

Tonga, playing in their first big international tournament, put up a good fight in the second set, staging a mini-comeback on the back of some excellent play from Tio Fonohema, Alipeti Olevao and Amanaki Fifita before Indonesia bounced back to take the set.

The Indonesians sustained their momentum in the third set, racing to an 11-6 lead which they enlarged to 20-12 en route to wrapping up the match in only 55 minutes.

Achmad and Tirtana led Indonesia's scoring with 12 points each while Joni Sugiyatno accounted for 11 points. Tonga was helped by Fonohema's eight points and a six-point contribution from Olevao.
