Kenya and Algeria make it two from two

Nairobi, Kenya, July 21, 2005 – Tournament favourites Kenya and Algeria took giant steps towards the 2006 Women’s World Championship final round after they both collected their second win in as many matches on Thursday at the African first round tournament – Pool B in Nairobi, Kenya.

Kenya beat Congo Brazaville 3-0 (25-7, 25-4, 25-18) while Algeria beat Eritrea 3-0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-8).

They now have two wins from two matches, while Congo Brazaville have two defeats and Eritrea and DRC Congo have one loss apiece.

The winner of the five day tournament will advance to the final round as the third and final African ticket winner joining Egypt and Cameroon who have already won their respective first round tournaments.

Day three of the tournament on Friday sees Congo Brazaville play Eritrea at 11:00 GMT (14:00 local time) followed by DRC Congo playing Algeria at 13:00 GMT (16:00 local time). Kenya have the rest day.
