FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

"The game between Egypt and Tunisia is special," says Egypt coach

Egypt coach Gaber Abouzeid after match against Tunisia

Tunisia coach Mohammed Gara:

“It was a hard match for us. Congratulations for Egypt and to my players. There is always a rivalry between Tunisia and Egypt. Usually in African Championships or in Arabic Championships it’s always Tunisia or Egypt in the final round. Sometimes Tunisia wins, sometimes Egypt wins. During the match the atmosphere was little bit tense. The team who keep their cool blood had the chance to have success. Egyptians played good but they made lots of mistakes. In the beginning of the match my team was little bit excited but they became calmer. As the tactic plan today, I chanced number 5 Garfi Elyes. I wanted him to play as center blocker so team started to play better because the number 15 Karim wasn’t in form today. For us the moral is always more important during the game. We are every time the best in Africa but we should work harder to play matches in world level. I thank to FIVB and also to Turkish Volleyball Federation for this organization.”

Egypt coach Gaber Abouzeid:

“The game is over, now we look for our future in volleyball. The game between Egypt and Tunisia is special. I think we played good today. Some small mistakes made us lose the game. We played 5 sets yesterday. It was very hard for the players to concentrate.”

Egypt player Mohamed Hassan:

“It was a nice game. Tunisia was stronger than us. Their blocking was also hard. They took the important moments from us in the court. That was the reason they won the game. We will be training for the next tournament.”
