Japan's libero Shohei Nose digs during match against Canada at FIVB Men's U21

Izmir, Turkey, August 31, 2013 – Japan rebounded after losing the first set to pull off a 3-2 victory over Canada (18-25, 25-20, 25-27, 26-28, 17-15) in the classification 9 to 12th positions of the FIVB Men's U21 World Championship at Ataturk Hall in Izmir, Turkey on Saturday.

Now Japan qualified to play Serbia for 9th and 10th positions, while Canada relegated to play USA for 11th and 12th positions.

Japan's outside hitter Yuki Ishikawa led his team scorers with 24 points followed by Naoya Takano who scored crucial 17 points. From the Canadian side Ryley Barnes contributed 15 points to his side as best scorer.

The fighting spirit and the use of well known quick attacks through positions 2 and 3 were the key factors for the victory of the Japanese team who stayed at their optimium peerfromance till the end.

Canada started the match with the proper line up and discipline to go through towards a wide win in the first set 25-18. Japan rebounded aggressively in the second and third sets with their attackers doing fantastic job to turn the score to their side 2-1.

The fourth set was the most exciting as Japan was leading in most of the set trying to decide the match before Canada fought bravely to return back in the last few points and pick up the set 28-26 and extend the match to tiebreak.

Japan again were more fighting for each point to get the tiebreak 17-15 and win the match 3-2.
