FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

My players know what to do on the court and they did their best - coach Hizal

We want that fifth place, Turkish coach Umit Hizal says

Ankara, Turkey, August 31, 2013 – Turkey beat India by 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-20) at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara.  While the losing side is dreaming of a third chance to defeat the Turks, the winners are already focusing on the fifth place match against Iran on Sunday.  These are the post-match statements of the two teams’ coaches and captains.

T.C. Jothish, coach of India: “We tried our best in this match, but it did not work well for us. We had already lost by 0-3 to Turkey in the pool. I think we played better this time. We could manage to get a win over Turkey if we had one more chance I think. We do not have match experience and we gain experience day by day by playing matches.”

Lavmeet Katariya, captain of India: “We were not good today. Turkey won the match with a very good performance. We will now start to think about our next match against Argentina tomorrow.”

Umit Hizal, coach of Turkey: “It was a hard match for us after yesterday’s loss. However, my players know what to do on the court and they did their best. We are going to play for the fifth place with Iran tomorrow. We know Iran well because we had camps together before this championship. We both want the fifth place.”

Baturalp Burak Gungor, captain of Turkey: “We made a mistake by losing yesterday’s match and now we are doing our best to get some closure. We are going to do everything to finish this championship in the fifth place tomorrow. Iran will do the same. I think whoever makes fewer mistakes will win.”
