We did not give Japan the chance to play - coach Jothish

"All my players played well," says the coach of India after the victory over Japan

Ankara, Turkey, August 28, 2013 – India defeated Japan by 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-20) in their round-of-16 game at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara and their coach revealed that not letting their opponent play was his strategy for this match.  These are the post-game statements of the two teams’ coaches and captains.

Noriaki Sako, coach of Japan: “Today almost everything was not good; players just could not play well. Although we tried different tactics everything was just not good enough. The most important point in this match was the mistakes of our players. But we will not lose our spirit and we will try to do our best in next matches.

Masahiro Sekita, captain of Japan: “Today we did not show a high level of play. We were not in a good condition and did not perform well. The level of play today was not the same as it was so far. India are a good team and they performed well today.”

T.C. Jothish, coach of India: “My players started the match very concentrated. We did not have the option to give the chance to Japan to play. If we gave them this chance, it would be very hard for us to win this match. This was our plan. All my players played well. I congratulate them all. I think we are going to face Russia in the quarterfinals. It will be a tough match for us.”

Lavmeet Katariya, captain of India: “All my team-mates played very well. I want to congratulate the Japanese team as well. They played very well, but we were just better than them and won the match 3-0.”
