FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

Participation in such a championship is a great experience for us – captain Jarv

Estonia will try to make the most of their following games in Izmir

Ankara, Turkey, August 26, 2013 – Naturally the Estonians are sad about losing to Argentina by 1-3 (19-25, 25-22, 17-25, 22-25) in their last Pool B match and failing to make it to the Round of 16 at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara, but appreciate the experience they are gaining by participating at this level.  These are the statements of coaches and captains after the game.

Tali Urmas, coach of Estonia: “It was a very important match for us and it is the second time when we have the same situation.  We wait for the mistakes of our opponents and we do not concentrate well on our own play.   This happened against Mexico and today again against Argentina. Of course, all pool matches were a good experience for us, we have never played before with such teams as Iran, so it allowed us to move to the next level. Of course, we wanted to be in the next round, but after the same losses to Mexico and Argentina we will just do our best in Izmir.”

Ronald Jarv, captain: “We believe it was our best game in the tournament so far. Maybe we just lacked the confidence in the end of the sets. We are very sad that we could not win today and it was our last game in the pool. But still we have places to play for and as we have not participated in any premier tournament before, participation in such a championship is a great experience for us.”

Fabian Muraco, coach of Argentina: “We played very well in this match. We were fully concentrated on the match and as a result we managed to win. We are going to play against China in the Round of 16. We will prepare well for this match and will do our best.”

Fernando Arpajou, captain of Argentina: “It was a hard match. We were on the lucky side. The next match is very important for us. We are looking forward to it.”
