FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

It will only get harder from now on, Turkey’s coach and captain stated

Hizal and Gungor are happy to have won all four matches in the pool

Ankara, Turkey, August 25, 2013 – While the losing side admitted that Turkey were the better team in their clash with China at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara, that ended with a 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 15-6) victory for the home team, the coach and the captain of the winning team already brace for even tougher matches ahead.  Here are the statements made after the game.

Di Zhang, coach of China: “In our team each player worked hard today. They played well, but the Turkish team was just better. The match was difficult, because Turkey is on the same level as we are and they managed play better today. We will prepare for our next game with India and we will try to do our best.”

Tianyi Mao, captain of China: “This match was very good and the Turkish team played very well. Of course, it is a pity for us that we could not win today.”

Umit Hizal, coach of Turkey: “We are very happy for finishing our pool unbeaten in the first place. We are aware that the matches we are going to play from now on will be more difficult. My players know what to do and they are also aware of the importance of this championship. Now we are waiting for our next opponent.”

Baturalp Burak Gungor, captain of Turkey: “We are happy for winning all our matches in our pool. But the championship starts now I think. It will get harder every day. We had no problem so far, I hope we will continue this way.”
