Press release

We did what our coach told us to do and won - captain Arpajou

Argentine players managed to stay more focused that their opponents from Japan

Ankara, Turkey, August 24, 2013 – Argentina defeated Japan in straight sets - 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 28-26) in a very tight battle at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara.  The South Americans improved their play compared to yesterday, while the Asians made too many mistakes, according to the post-game statements of the coaches and the captains.

Noriaki Sako, coach of Japan: “Each team played almost equally and it was a close game. The mistakes we made were the main reason we lost the match.  Tomorrow we are going to play against Iran in our last pool match. We will try to play our best game against them.”

Masahiro Sekita, captain of Japan: “We made too many mistakes in the match and that is why we lost it. We need to motivate ourselves for our last pool match tomorrow.”

Fabian Muraco, coach of Argentina: “This was a very important match for us. We knew that we were going to face a very powerful team. I told my players that they have to do their best in this match and they achieved this. We improve our play every day. We are going to prepare for Mexico to do our best tomorrow.”

Fernando Arpajou, captain of Argentina: “This was a match of two teams that are close to each other in strength. We did what our coach told us to do in all sets and managed to win the match.”
