Morocco surprisingly strong for Turkey and pleased with their performance

The Moroccan delegation looks happy after the game with Turkey despite losing in straight sets

Ankara, Turkey, August 23, 2013 – Both sides agreed that the Moroccan side performed well against a strong Turkish team at the last match of the day at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara despite losing 0-3 (24-26, 21-25, 22-25).    This is what the coaches and the captains had to say after the game.

Brahim Bouchdouk, coach of Morocco: “Turkey is both the host country and a very strong team. We knew that the match would be tough.  We did our best in the match and we are proud of it.”

El Graoui Zouhair, captain of Morocco: “It was a good match for me and for my team. We played against a very good and strong team. I think we played as good as we could, but we had no luck.”

Umit Hizal, coach of Turkey: “It was a tough match. I did not expect that this match would be that hard. My players fought really well and, as a result of their good performance, they won the match. They did not give up from the beginning through the end. They did everything to win. I am very proud of them.”

Baturalp Burak Gungor, captain of Turkey: “Actually we did not expect Morocco to be that strong. We made a good analysis of their play, used tactics well in the match and won without giving away any sets. We will now start preparing for our next match now.”
