FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

My players did everything I told them to during the match - coach Nafarzadeh

Iranian players carefully listen to what their coach has to say

Ankara, Turkey, August 23, 2013 – Pre-match preparation seems to have worked better for Iran, despite the fact that their opponents from Argentina had a day off on Thursday and respectively the advantage to watch Iran in action, according to coach Farhad Nafarzadeh’s words after his team ran over the South American side by 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-18) at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara.  These are the post-game statements of the coaches and the captains.

Fabian Muraco, coach of Argentina: “I want to congratulate the Iranian players. They are a great team. We did not have the chance to start the match well. My team was very nervous. Step by step we will improve our level. I hope we will be better tomorrow.”

Fernando Arpajou, captain of Argentina: “Iran played very well. We could not play the way we wanted. Hope to be better in our next match.”

Farhad Nafarzadeh, coach of Iran: “We played with one of Europe’s best U21 teams, Estonia, yesterday and we knew that it would be a tough match today against Argentina. Argentina is also one of the good teams. Argentina had the day off yesterday and watched our match. This made our job harder today. But we managed to win. My players did everything I told them to during the match. We played by making minimum mistakes and I congratulate my players.”

Javad Hosseinabadi, captain of Iran: “We prepared for the game against Argentina very well. We knew that it was going to be a tough match. We talked with my team about improving our level for this match. And I am happy to have coped this well.”
