We played with our hearts today - coach Abouzeid

Starting well in the championship was important for Egypt, according to coach Abouzeid

Ankara, Turkey, August 23, 2013 – ”China are strong, but we played with our hearts today”, Egypt’s coach Gaber Abouzeid stated after his team achieved a hard-earned 3-2 (27-29, 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 15-8) victory over the squad from Asia in Friday’s match at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara.  Here are the first words of the coaches and the captains after the game.

Di Zhang, coach of China: “Both teams played very well today. But Egypt is an African stronghold.  I think there was a difference between the levels.”

Tianyi Mao, captain of China: “We are sorry for losing this match. We played well in the game and did our best, but Egypt was better than us.”

Gaber Abouzeid, coach of Egypt: “Starting well in the championship was important for us. China are a strong team with really good players. We played with our hearts today and believed that we have the capacity to win. We are happy to win this match.”

Islam Abdelkader, captain of Egypt: “We faced a team that play very high level of volleyball. We could not manage to compete with their blocks at first. However, we did what our coach told us during the match and won it.”
