My team played better than yesterday - coach Tali

Estonia's coach Urmas Tali is happy for his team's first victory in Ankara

Ankara, Turkey, August 23, 2013 – Better concentration and fewer mistakes provided the key to victory in Friday’s first match of the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara, in which Estonia emerged victorious with a 3-2 (27-29, 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 15-8) final result against Japan.  Here is what the coaches and the captains had to say after the game.

Noriaki Sako, coach of Japan: “The fewer mistakes made the difference in the match result. After losing the fourth set my team lost concentration.  We need to be more concentrated in our games from now on.”

Masahiro Sekita, captain of Japan: “We were good in the match. However, Estonia played much better. We did not have the chance to start the fifth set well and lost it. We will try to be better tomorrow against Argentina.”

Urmas Tali, coach of Estonia: “The Japanese team were lucky in the first set and we lost it. We had a difficult start of the second set, but we managed to win it.  We played well in the last set and I am very happy for winning this match. My team played better than yesterday.”

Ronald Jarv, captain of Estonia: “We were behind 1-2 but we managed to win the match. We made many mistakes in serving. However, we stayed in the game and in the fifth set we dominated on the court. It is good for us to get our first win.”
