FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Both teams played high level of volleyball today - coach Nafarzadeh

The two coaches blamed their teams' lost sets on too many errors

Ankara, Turkey, August 22, 2013 – Both teams played high level of volleyball today, according to Iran’s coach Farhad Nafarzadeh, who commented on the first match of the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara.  His team beat Estonia by 3-1 (22-25, 25-11, 25-17, 25-22) and this is what the coaches and the captains had to say after the end of the game.

Tali Urmas, coach of Estonia: “We had a good start of the match but we were not good at receiving in the second set. This was bad for us - we made too many mistakes. That is the second reason we lost this match. But this is understandable. This is the first match; they are under a lot of pressure. We are going to concentrate more on our next matches.”

Ronald Jarv, captain of Estonia: “We won the first set but made too many mistakes after that. We were not good at attacking and serving; also reception was bad.  We did not set up good game. This is only the first match. It will not continue like this. We are going to become better.”

Farhad Nafarzadeh, coach of Iran: “In this kind of big championships, first matches are always tough because we do not have much information about other teams. I think both teams played high level of volleyball today. We had the chance in the first set but we made too many mistakes and could not win it. We played better in the other sets and are very happy to start this World Championship by winning our first match.”

Javad Hosseinabadi, captain of Iran: “We know that Estonia is a good team. I think they did not play well today. We played better and are happy to win this first match.”
