A winning farewell for Tunisia


Rwanda was very competitive in second and third sets. However the Tunisian team service was ke for their win.

Mexicali, Mexico, July 6 2013 – Tunisia finished in the 18th place at FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship after a victory over Rwanda. The North African team coached by Lotfi Ben Slimane closed with a 2-1 record and six points at the 17-20 Round Robin classification phase.


Captain of Rwanda, Jacques Iradukunda talked about this match and his experience at this tournament, while Wassin Ben Tara, top scorer of Tunisia attended to the press conference instead of captain Wael Mrika, who suffered an injury at the end of the match.


Lotfi Ben Slimane, coach of Tunisia: “Congratulations to Rwanda for this participation. It was their first world championship. It was difficult but like their coach said, They had an improvement. We played well and we finish the championship with two wins.”


Jean Marie Vianney, coach of Rwanda: “Congratulations to Tunisia they deserved this victory. But I also want to congratulate my players, they did their best. During the tournament we made some improvements match by match. Unfortunately we lost Samuel Niyogubizo. He is one of our best players, but suffered and injury”.


Jacques Iradukunda, captain of Rwanda: “This was our last match, we really wanted to win but missed this chance.”


Wassin Ben Tara of Tunisia: “We had some problems in the second and third sets, but we improved in the serve to win this match.”
