We are here thanks to Chile: Honkanen

Finnish players achieved great experience for this championship due to their scrimmages against Chile, according to their coach.

Mexicali, Mexico, July 5 2013 - Blocking and serving strategy were key for Finland's victory over Chile on Friday at Mexicali State Auditorium.

But beyond that Finnish coach Pertti Honkanen appreciated the opportunity shared with the Chilean team in the previous stage to the Boys' U19 World Championship.

Both countries played friendly matches as preparation for the European qualifier and also for the the competition that has taken part in Baja California.

Pertti Honkanen, coach of Finland: "We have played in the past a couple of times, and today I want to let you know that thanks to the Chilean team we are here, playing at the world championship. The preparation matches we played were very important for us. Without them we would not be here, and we learned a lot from this experience. They put our fighting spirit in a high level."

Daniel Nejamkin, coach of Chile: "Congratulations to Finland. It was an excellent match, unfortunately They had a very good plan and worked very well with their block. We worked with our rotation, but were not good in counterattack."

Sakari Mäkinen, captain of Finland: "This was a great victory for Us. Chile is a great team. We played well in every part of the match and every part of the team did the right things. We are happy for it".

Dusan Bonacic, captain of Chile: "We could not find our volley. We played very well on the second set, but We struggled against Finnish block. congratulations to them for the victory"
