Iran secure comfortable trip to Mexicali

Iranian coach Iraj Mozaffari dedicated the victory to the mothers and fathers of his players

Tijuana, Mexico, June 30, 2013 – Iran team were in a must-win situation after losing to Russia in straight sets last Friday and the Asian champions didn’t waste time to show they were on a mission against France on Sunday at Baja California High Performance Center.

The Iranian dominated from start to finish and grabbed three important points to secure a not so strong rival when they move to the round of sixteen next July 3.

Mohammad Javad, captain of Iran: “Our mission today was to get three points and get a better position in the match-ups when we move to Mexicali. We achieved what we wanted. We played hard since the beginning and I am happy for the victory. France is a strong team but they played without the regular libero.”

Thomas Nevot, captain of France: “We didn’t play as well as we expected. Our libero was injured and his absence created problems to us because we had to improvise.”

Iraj Mozaffari, coach of Iran: “This victory we dedicate to the fathers and mothers of the players of our players who have not seen each other for fifteen days, something they are not use to under our culture. France’s reception was not very good today without their libero so we pressed with our serves. Today it was the Iranian team on the court.”

Belmadi Slimane, coach of France: “Our game today was shaky with our libero injured. I tried to find solutions but didn’t work. It was a bad day. Maybe in our next match we can improve.”
