Japan showed us another side of volleyball: Hidayetoglu


Turkey was very close to the victory, even with a 14-12 advantage on the fifth set. However history turned over in favor of their rivals.



MEXICALI, Mexico, June 28 2013 — The style of Japanese volleyball marked a big difference in a very tight and tough match for the Turkish team, whose players are living  a world championship experience for the first time.
For coach Ali Kazi Hidayetoglu, the rival faced on friday played cleverly with a good technique and excecution. 
Ali Kazi Hidayetoglu, coach of Turkey: “Japan was a difficult rival that played a volleyball different than the European style. They played hard on every set, not strong, but were very clever.”
Hiroshi Honda, coach of Japan: “Turkey showed a great combination in blocking and digging. We had to fight against their block to get the points.”
Yigit Gulmezoglu, captain of Turkey: “We won the first two sets, but fell down, and were even close on the fifth with a 14-12 advantage, but this is our first world championship.”
Tsubasa Hisahara, captain of Japan: “We just took the best of our first defeat, by improving on bad situations, and got the good points today.”
