"We are happy with the bronze," Brazil coach says


Brazil coach and captain celebrate the bronze medal

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, August  4, 2013  – Brazil beat Peru 3-0 set (25-19, 25-23, 25-12).  Brazil finished their tournament gaining the Bronze medal and Peru got 4th at the Girls’ U18 World Championships in Thailand. 

Mauricio Thomas,  head coach of Brazil:

“Today It’s very good match. I think this match important for our team although, we can’t pass to final of this World Championship and we are happy with the bronze medal that we got. Peru is one of the strongest teams of the championship so we play with confidence and spirit. We have to work hard in an effort of beating them.”


Drussyla Costa, team captain of Brazil:

“I’m glad that we won the match. We played well upon our level especially our spikes. It’s very tough and we could overcome all obstacles to win it. I am very happy today although target is gold medal but today we are satisfied with our team and the final we got the 3rd of the tournament. Thank you”


David Rodas, team manager of Peru:

“First of all congratulation for Brazil that they can get the bronze medal .We accepted with result today because Brazil played much better than us. They are very strong. This is a very high-level competition and some people of our team had a injury and tries with the match against China in yesterday and today our team also did not play our game which was the main cause for our loss.”


Angela Leyva, team captain of Peru:

“It’s a very difficult match. Brazil, which are very strong in blocking and spiking. I am not disappointed  with  our result because we tried our best to beat them and in every match Thank you for our teammates and Peru supporter
