I thank my mother to give me a chance to play volleyball, says Peru’s team captain

Peru's team manager David Rodas and team captain Angela Leyva in an interview with journalists

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, August 1, 2013 – Peru’s team captain Angela Leyva thanked her mother to give her a chance to play volleyball and it led her to a convincing run in this championship. Following are quotes from team manager plus team captain from Peru and head coach accompanied by team captain from Slovenia.

David Rodas, team manager of Peru: “It’s a very difficult match, but we could make it. We next take on Serbia, which are very strong in blocking and spiking. However, we will do our best to beat them. Angela Leyva had a minor leg injury but she still can become a major force to be reckoned for our team.”

Angela Leyva, team captain of Peru: “I’m glad that we won the match. It’s very tough and we could overcome all obstacles to win it. I would like to thank my mother to give me a chance to play volleyball and it really plays a vital role in my success in this sporting event. I thank her for giving me an opportunity and bringing me to stand here at this point.”

Joze Casar, head coach of Slovenia: “Peru played much better than us. They are very strong. This is a very high-level competition. They are the South American champions, but we are just sixth from Europe. We are small country, first time in the World Championship. We will try our best in the 9th-16th playoffs.

Eva Mori, team captain of Slovenia: “We played very bad. We did not play our game which was the main cause for our loss.”
