Gamova spearheads Russian Women's Volleyball win

Russia's Ekaterina Gamova led Russia to victory
Beijing, China, August 13, 2008 - Russia recorded its first Women's Volleyball victory in Pool B with a 3-0 triumph over Kazakhstan at Capital Gymnasium on Wednesday.
Ekaterina GAMOVA (RUS) scored 14 points as the Russians won 25-19, 25-18, 25-11 and inflicted Kazakhstan's third consecutive loss.
Captain Yelena PAVLOVA (KAZ) was at the heart of the Kazakhstan attack, ending the game with 17 points.
Russia edged ahead early in the opening set, only for Kazakhstan to grab three straight points to level at 10-10. But after a time-out, the Russian attackers started to dominate and built a commanding lead.
Natalia ALIMOVA (RUS) repelled an Kazakhstan spike from the outside to seal the first set 25-19.
Maria SHESHENINA (RUS) provided well-distributed sets to her attackers GAMOVA, Evgenia ESTES (RUS) and Liubov SHASHKOVA (RUS) during the second set.
Olga FATEEVA (RUS) scored the 24th and 25th points for Russia to close the set 25-18.
Russia were even stronger in the third set, disposing of Kazakhstan 25-11 in 21 minutes. The Russians picked on Kazakhstan libero Yelena EZAU (KAZ) to receive their powerful serves and spikes.
ALIMOVA sealed the win with a drop shot on the middle of Kazakhstan's court.
