Beijing, China, April 17, 2008 – The smooth running so far of the test event in Beijing for the Olympic Games Volleyball Tournaments has been confirmed by FIVB First Executive Vice-President Mr. Jizhong Wei.

Wei, on-site during the “Good Luck Beijing” 2008 China Club Volleyball Tournament as part of the FIVB Control Committee, also singled out the efforts of Mr. Shanrit Wongprasert during the event as deserving of special praise.

Wongprasert, an FIVB Board of Administration Member and Sports Events Council Member, is insisting on staying with the FIVB delegation overseeing the five-day test event despite an unfortunate family matter.

The FIVB praised Wongprasert’s highly remarkable professional attitude in continuing to carry out his duties with the Control Committee.

It was reported that the Chinese Press had also hailed Wongprasert’s resolve.

The "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 China Club Volleyball Tournament began Wednesday in the Capital Indoor Stadium and Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium with the aim of testing the two competition sites set to host Volleyball at the Summer Games.

The tournament follows a successful dress rehearsal for Beach Volleyball in August 2007 at Chaoyang Park Beach Volleyball Ground, the 12,000-seater venue for the Beijing Games Beach Volleyball Tournament, with an FIVB Women's Challenger event.

In line with International Olympic Committee requirements and prior commitments by Beijing, the China Club Volleyball Tournament and the FIVB Beach Volleyball Women's Challenger are two of 42 "Good Luck Beijing" sports events scheduled between July 2007 and June 2008.
