Lausanne, April 1, 2008 – The FIVB has set the match schedules for the Men’s World Olympic Qualification Tournaments in Düsseldorf, Germany, Espinho, Portugal and Tokyo, Japan, that will decide the remaining four places up for grabs in the Beijing Olympics Men’s Volleyball Tournament.
The winner of each round-robin tournament will qualify for Beijing. In Tokyo, the winner of the tournament plus the best Asian team (even if the winner is Asian) will qualify for the Games as the Japan event doubles up as the Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Australia, Korea, Iran and Thailand, as the four best-ranked teams at the Asian Continental Championship, complete the line-up in Tokyo alongside hosts Japan, Algeria, Argentina and Italy.
In Espinho, hosts Portugal are joined by Indonesia, Poland and Puerto Rico. In Düsseldorf, hosts Germany are joined by Chinese Taipei, Cuba and Spain.
