South American Men 2008 Beijing Olympic Qualification Tournament in Formosa |

Formosa, Argentina, 6 January 2008 - Venezuela and Argentina - considered ahead as possible favourite winners of the Tournament and therefore, getting the only vacant place for South America won their two matches, 3-0 and seems will decide between them - on the last match of the last date, Jan. 7th, 2008 - which team will earn the ticket to fly to the Beijing Olympic Games.
ARGENTINA DEFEATED PARAGUAY 3-0 Once more an overcrowded Cincuentenario Sport Centre shook with the game of the Argentine National Men Team at the South American Men 2008 Beijing Olympic qualification Tournament when the team coached by Jon Uriarte, in its second presentation in Formosa defeated Paraguay 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-18). the best players of the local team were Gustavo Porporatto scoring 13 points and Marcos Milinkovic, 11 but no doubt the best player and star of the night was the Paraguayan Opposite Player, Jose Gaona, that scored 22 points.
VENEZUELA DEFEATED CHILE Venezuela, on the start of the third date of the South American Men 2008 Beijing Olympic Qualification Tournament, that is taken place in Formosa, defeated Chile 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-21) getting its second victory in two matches. Carlos Tejeda was the Best Scorer for Venezuela, with 14 points while for Chile, Matias Tobar added 10.
WITH ARGENTINA FREE VENEZUELA DEFEATED PARAGUAY 3-0 While Argentina kept training as it did not have an official match today at the South American Men 2008 Beijing Olympic Qualification Tournament, where five teams are fighting for the only vacant place for South American for the Olympic Games, Venezuela played its first mach defeating Paraguay very clearly 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-13) at the great Cincuentenario Sport Centre. Jon Uriarte and the rest of the team watched the match that had in Ernardo Gomez, the best scorer with 15 points, followed by the Paraguayan Jose Gaona with 9.
FIRST VICTORY OF CHILE OVER URUGUAY 3-0 The Chilean National Men Team, started the second date of the South American Men 2008 Beijing Olympic Qualification Tournament - that is taking place in Formosa, Argentina, with a victory over Uruguay, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-19) with Matias Tobar, once more being the best player of the Chilean Team, scoring 14 points. On the Uruguayan side, Nicolas Ronchi scored 12 points for its team.
ARGENTINA DEFEATED WITHOUT QUESTIONS URUGUAY 3-0 The Argentine National Men Team started with the right foot at the South American Men 2008 Beijing Olympic Qualification Tournament having in front of them the only possible goal: to win the tournament and qualify for the Olympic Games, defeating Uruguay without any question by a three consecutive sets 25-16 match. The team coached by Jon Uriarte changed all its players giving all the needed experience and confidence to carry on with victories on this important event. The Cincuentenario Sport Center was crowded with about 4,500 local fans.
FIRST MATCH IN FORMOSA - PARAGUAY DEFEATED CHILE 3-2 In the opening match of the South American Men 2008 Beijing Olympic Qualification Tournament in Formosa, Paraguay turned over a great match, losing twice by one set, to finish winning over Chile 3-2 (25-27, 25-14, 18-25, 26-24, 15-10), at Cincuentenario Sport Center. The Best Scorer of the match was Matias Tobar, who plays at the ACLAV Argentine A1 Men Teams League, scoring for Chile 30 points.
