Russia take bronze
Vadim KHAMUTTSKIKH (RUS) - Bronze
On Sunday's victory:
"We can now say that it was not for nothing that we came here. Of course we had great plans, but we leave with the Bronze. We hope in the future our performance can further improve."
Alberto CISOLLA (ITA)
On the loss:
"It's very difficult and very tough for me to make comments after a defeat. There is a lot of bitterness in all of us. Last night on the eve of the match we hoped for a better result. The result though is clear; today we played a great team, a wonderful team."
"There is regret as well as bitterness. But considering all the changes to the Italian team and where we came from in November, this is better than we could have hoped of doing. This is a sad consolation, but a step forward. We hope to be a better team in the future."
Vladimir ALEKNO (RUS) - coach
On winning Bronze:
"Russia was waiting for a medal from us. We will bring it home, but I'm sorry it will not be a better medal than this."
Andrea ANASTASI (ITA) - coach
On the match:
"The Russians played in an excellent way. They were decidedly superior in their skill and the way they played. They deserve the (Bronze) medal."
"At the very end we sort of ran out of gas. The players were not doing all they could technically, and also physically towards the end. This also happened when we played against Brazil (in the semifinals)."
