Moculescu loses to Brazil in last match as German Head Coach

Brazil's Giba spikes

Bjorn Andrae (GER) - captain

On the match:

"Before the game, we knew it would be hard to play against Brazil because they play an entirely defferent style of Volleyball. At the beginning we played confidently, later we played well enough, but not our best."

Stelian Moculescu (GER) - coach

"Brazil is a celebrated team and they played beautiful Volleyball. For the people, the spectators, the best team is Brazil. My team played very well, but this is my last match as the coach of the German team."

Giberto Godoy Filho (BRA) - captain

"On the match:

"To compete with Germany is very tough for us. They have a strong reverse service. Germany needed just a couple of points to make the quarterfinals and they are strong in many areas. They have a very good defence, so we needed to play well and we came away with the win."

Bernardo Rezende (BRA) - coach

On the match:

"Giba (Gilberto Godoy Filho) gave us much more speed. Brazil deserves one more gold medal. That would make our team's dream come true."

"This match has been a good test for the quarterfinals. Germany is strong in service and blocks. The teams we will be coming up against will be strong in these too. It gave us more options in the quarterfinals."

On the retirement of Germany's coach Stelian Moculiscu:

"We have played against each other over the past eight years. We learnt a lot from him and we will miss him. I will be waiting in Brazil for him to come and exchange experience."
