Zhou satisifed with China's fighting spirit

Japan's Yu Koshikawa
ZHOU Jianan (CHN) - head coach

On China's performance:

"It was tough today but we are happy to have won the fifth set. China and Japan are both Asian teams and we are (therefore) familiar with each other. We made our game plan according to their characteristics and it worked efficiently."

On the last three sets:

"In the third and fourth sets Japan's service influenced our quick attack, and we became passive. Our players were too eager to win and this affected China's game in the third set."

"In the fifth set we made some adjustments based on Japan's attacking play. SHI Hairong (CHN) was changed on to the front row and I think it worked out. It was a key for our victory. Each opponent in Pool A are strong teams and I'm satisfied with the fighting spirit of our players."

Tatsuya UETA (JPN) - head coach

On the match:

"It's our third game of the Olympics and we've lost all three. In the qualification round we got the last spot to play (in the Olympics), it's a known fact that we didn't prepare well enough."
