Bulgaria overpower China in four sets

Action at the net between China and Bulgaria
BEIJING, 10 August - Bulgaria were too strong for China as they cruised to a 25-20, 25-21, 26-28, 25-19 Volleyball victory at Capital Gymnasium on Sunday.

Attackers Vladimir NIKOLOV and Matey KAZIYSKI started strongly for Bulgaria. YUAN Zhi (CHN) was doing all he could to keep the score close, but Kasimir GAYDARSKI (BUL) closed the set with an attack on the middle to make it 25-20.

The Bulgarians were hitting spikes against the vulnerable Chinese block. Evgeni IVANOV caught the home side off-guard a couple of times as China failed to block his hits.

YUAN Zhi was doing most of China's scoring with good right-side attacks, but Kostadin STOYKOV hit the vital point as Bulgaria took the second set 25-21.

Andrey ZHEKOV (BUL) continued to find his hitters in the third set to take easy points, but China were determined to make a match of it. GUO Peng made a crucial block while CUI Jianjun and YUAN started to click in attack and they snatched the set 28-26.

China began to counter their opponents' block with CUI attacking on the back row, but the Bulgarians were not to be denied and KAZIYSKI was on hand to deliver the winning point as they took the fourth set 25-19.
