For those who did not know, Reeves is Jeanne Beauprey Reeves´s daughter, a member of the 1984 United States Olympic Team that captured the silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Beauprey would later become the assistant coach for the U.S National Team that competed at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Also, when Kelly was 12-years-old, her mother was the coach of the Encinitas Wave Volleyball Club, who Kelly began to play for. The pair won the 16-and-under USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championship in 2008.
In an interview with Kelly, she said that she was amazingly proud of her mother, and so are her two brothers who also play volleyball. When she was younger, she always liked to do sports. In fact, she thought that she would be a soccer player and not be involved with volleyball. She decided to follow her mother´s path because she really wanted to do all the amazing things that her mother told her about in her career.
Kelly Reeves is not only the US captain, she is an important player for her team for all the preparation that she had thanks to her mother. She got her mother´s talent and she loves it.
