Trujillo, Peru, July 26, 2011—In their first match in Trujillo after playing the first round in Lima, Russia defeated Egypt in only 57 minutes 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-11) in a Pool H matchup of the second round of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Junior World Championship in Peru 2011.
Russia improved their record to (2-2) in the tournament. Egypt has yet to win a game in four tries.
Natalia Malykh led Russia with 16 points, and Yana Manzyuk had 12 points. Yasmin Hussein led Egypt with 11 points. Russia earned 10 points off of serves, compared to zero for Egypt.

Russia came out on fire, scoring nine of the first ten points of the opening set. Russia’s captain Alina Yaroshik scored her team’s first four points. Egypt struggled to match the height of the Russian squad, with Russia earning five points off of blocks, compared to zero for Egypt.
Egypt played much more competitively in the second set, recording four of the first five points, behind the precise serving of Yasmin Hussein. However, Russian came charging back to tie the score at 12. Natalia Malykh had a powerful kill to win the second set, her tenth point of the match. Russia had seven players with more than one point in the first two sets, compared to only two for Egypt.
Motivated to sweep the match, Russia scored eight of the first 10 points in the third set. Russia continued to dominate, scoring the final six points of the match, with Natalia Malykh again spiking the ball to win the final set.
Russia has the second best setters in the tournament, behind China, averaging 8.20 per set. Egypt’s Yasmin Hussein is the fourth best server, averaging .82 per set.
Russia will next play against Poland at 9.30 on July 27. Egypt will challenge Serbia at 11.30 on July 27.
