Brazil overcomes the quick Taipei attacks

Mexicali, Mexico, July 21, 2009- Brazil continued their winning streak as they crashed Chinese Taipei 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-17, 25-20) in the second day of the second round Pool E of the 2009 Women’s Junior World Championship held here at Auditorio del Estado Ciudad Deportiva hall in Mexicali, Mexico on Tuesday. It was not easy for the Samba dancers to win the match after their won the first set although the big difference of the height of the players as Taipei team disturbed them in many parts of the match with their quick attacks and their efficient spike services.
 The Brazil wing spikers Isadora Rodriguez and Glauciele Silva were the key factor of the victory with their 17 and 15 points scored and the maintenance of their performance all through the match. From the Taipei’s side Wan ting and Shih ting were the stars and match scorers with 20 points scored for each.
 Brazil improved their win- loss ratio to 2-0 in the e=second round pool E while Taipei dropped to 0-2.
 The Brazilian coach started the match with the same strategy like their first match against Netherlands and he led from the start due to the good job in blocking from Leticia Hage and Ana Correa so they went leading 8-5 at the FTT. Chinese Taipei team arranged their well known backlines defense and they were able to arrange their attacks through Wan ting Chen and Shih ting Chen as they succeeded to bring the draw 21-21. The experience of the Brazilian players through the efficient opposite Glauciele Silva was clear as they settled the set to their side 25-21.
 The second set showed early leading for Brazil team through the activity of the opposite Glauciele and the side hits of Isadora but the Taipei team emerged very aggressively fighting for each ball till they draw 19-19 with their center Shih Ting as a typical star. They saved a set point at 24-23 before scoring three successive points to win the set.
 Brazil block wasn’t as usual so they allowed the shorter Taipei players to lead 9-3 at the start of the third set due to the effective backline defense of Taipei team and the unstoppable hits from Wan Ting and Chen Yin Chang. Brazil players regained the rhythm and succeeded to overcome the point difference after the STT as Isadora’s performance raised to the top with Glauciele and the center Mara Lejo who was introduced by her coach in this set. Brazil went widely to win the set 25-17.
 The fourth set was very competitive as it went point by point, Taipei depended on their spike services and the quick attacks while Brazil on the wing spiker Glauciele and Isadora. Brazil led in some parts and Taipei in the others till Brazil finished ahead 16-15 at the STT. Brazil went through their adjusted block to win the set 25-20 and the match in straight sets.
