Brazil players happy after the match
Mexicali, Mexico, July 18, 2009- It was really a superb match that made the spectators on their toes for more than two hours when Brazil took over the strong Dominican team 3-2 (25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-11) in a thriller encounter in third day final day of the preliminary round of the 2009 Women’s Junior World Championship held here at Auditorio del Estado Ciudad Deportiva hall in Mexicali, Mexico on Friday. Who can stop the magnificent Dominican attacker Jeoselyna Rodriguez… this was the main question of the competition’s best game till now. The superstar scored impressive 24 points in the game and was an irritant factor for the Brazilian blocker and defense all through the match, but on time the Brazilian experience came to acheive the victory that waited for them in  frequent situations.
The match started very exciting and went point by point till 5-5 when Brazil led at the FTT 8-6 after a group of successful spikes from Isadora Rodriguez Thays Oliveira. Brazil overwhelmed for a while through their efficient blockers and led at the STT 16-14. Dominican team emerged again through the skillful combinations of the setter Niverka Marte to draw 16-16. Jeoselyna Rodriguez and Marifranchi did their best in the active penetration of the Brazilian block through the periphery of the net and they had the lead 20-19. The experience of Brazil players appeared on time when Thays and Mara Ferriera closed the way in front of Dominican spikers till they won the set 25-23.
The second set showed Dominican dominance in the net action due to the marvelous performance of the right attacker Jeoselyna who spiked from all the n=et position and gave her team the lead 8-5 at the FTT. Brazil struggled to come back through their efficient right attacker Thays who did well until she was affected by sprain ankle and replaced Natiele Goncalves. Brazil showed much disturbance when the Dominicans sent their razor sharp hits from all the net positions through Jeoselyna and Elisa Eve and that allowed the Dominican team to win the set 25-17.
Brazil returned back to their well known performance in the third set as Isadora and Glauciele Silva spiked well and also the dominicam players committed some reception and service mistakes that allowed Brazil to lead 14-10. Quickly the Dominicans arranged their backline defense and hence they arranged the combinations that were successfully applied by Jeoselyna and the middle blocker Estefany Arias to decrease the point deficit to 18-17 for Brazil. Isadora and the setter Roberta worked well to give Brazil the lead again until they won the exciting set 25-22.
The Dominicans showed aggressive start in the fourth set using the backline spikes of Jeoselyna and the unstoppable rockets from Eve and they went thoroughly to lead 8-4 at the FTT. Brazil fought well in the backline defense to stop the Dominican attacks and they succeeded to decrease the point difference to 21-11 for the Dominicans who were insisting to come back through tactical services they played and the deceiving combinations they played. The Caribbean fought well again to overcome the Brazilian block and succeeded to penetrate through the marvelous hits of Jeoselyna to win the set 25-18 and extend the match to tiebreak.
The tiebreak was another series of excitement when Brazil started leading 7-4 with the spikes of Isadora and Natiele before the rapid recovery of the Dominicans who draw 7-7 following the well known spikes of Jeoselyna and the outstanding performance of Eve. Brazil stayed ahead 8-7 at the court turn before the Dominicans led again 11-10 in front of the crazy spectators. Again the experience of Brazil players appeared in the right time as they blocked Jeoselyna well and arranged their counter attacks to win the set 15-11 and the big Marathon 3-2
