The current Chinese Women's Junior Team was newly
established on May 10, 2009, with the goal of producing outstanding successors
for the senior team who can carry on their excellent training regime and
competitive tradition.
The team's first major challenge is the 2009 FIVB World
Women's Junior Volleyball Championship in Mexico.
The 14 main players come from 10 provincial or municipal
clubs through China and the Army Club and average 18.7 years in age and 186cm
in height.
In recent years, the Chinese Women's Junior Team has
brought up many world-class players for the senior squad, including Wang Yimei,
Wei Qiuyue and Xue Ming. The team has won the Asian Women's Junior Volleyball
Championship many times and finished second at the 2007 FIVB World Women's Junior
Volleyball Championship.
The new Junior Team will stick to the traditional
training principles and guidance and work hard in hopes of producing more and
more outstanding players for the Chinese National Women's Team in the near
future.
