2007 FIVB Women's Junior World Championship

Match Description

Asian winners China show no mercy to Egypt, crushing the two-time African champions in a one-sided battle.

China fielded the fully-fledged players led by hard-attacking Zhao Yanni, who led the team with 25 points including 20 kills from 45 attempts. The powerful Chinese raced to the 11-5 lead, thanks to their insurmountable defence and devastating spikes from Zhao and Yan Ni.

The Egyptians won three successive points after China became more prone with unforced errors. As trailing 9-12, Egypt improved on their spiking tactics to narrow the gap at 13-17. However, their challenge was shortlived as China marched on their mighty attacks to win the set 25-18.

In the second set, Egypt matched China competitively from the beginning which saw both sides tie at 4-4 before China used their height advantage to attack powerfully and block effectively to widen the gap to 18-10 and 24-14 before Hui Ruoqi’s spike went without returning. China effortlessly took the set 25-14.

The third set was a totally lop-sided affair. China replaced their best players with substitutions including Shen Jingsi, Xi Xi and Huo Xuan. After taking a 3-2 lead, China scored successive 14 points, with captain Yin Na being the lone server. They never looked back from then on to win the comfortable set 25-10.
