Team profile

The Indian men’s junior national team will make its sixth appearance at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Junior World Championship in August. The side has qualified for the Junior World Championship four times after winning four medals at the Asian Championships and twice by hosting the tournament in Vishakapattanam and Pune in 2005 and 2009 respectively.

The side’s best finish at the tournaments was their fourth rank finish at the last World Championships led by coach M.H.Kumara.

India qualified for 2011 edition after winning bronze at the Junior Asian Championship 2010.
 
The present group finished seventh a the 2007 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ Youth World Championship held in Italy. The team members will join the camp for preparation after completing the Grand Club Championships. The federation has planned a three month preparation camp.

India has been a regular at the tournament since 2003 and are progressing steadily at international level.

Coach profile

Since 2002 M.H. Kumara has looked after the Indian men’s junior team , winning three medals at the Junior Asian Championship and under his guidence the side is participating at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Junior World Championship for the third time.  The side’s best performance at the tournament is fourth in the last edition.
