Team profile
In 15 editions of the FIVB Men´s Junior Championship, Brazil won four titles (93/01/07 and 09). Brazil won the last two editions of the championship. Moreover, the Brazilian team won five silver and three bronze medals.
In 2011 at Rio de Janeiro, city that received the first edition of the tournament in 1977, the team coached by Leonardo de Carvalho will fight for the fifth title with the best 15 junior teams of the world. This will be 16th edition of the competition.
In the championship history, some players were protagonists of titles and emerged in the Brazilian volleyball scenario. Between them are the Olympic champion Nalbert that after the gold medal in the Men´s Junior Championship in Argentina in 1993 was called for the first time for being part of the main team of Brazil. The same happened with the wing spiker Mauricio Borges elected the MVP during the Men´s Junior Championship.
Coach profile
Leonardo de Carvalho has 39 years old and was born in Rio de Janeiro. He became the head coach of the Men Brazilian Junior National team in March of 2011 after working for a year as assistant coach of Percy Oncken in the team.
Natural of Rio de Janeiro, Leonardo already coached a team in Switzerland and in Brazil, was the head coach of Volta Redonda in the last Superliga.
