Match #2: Iran Sweeps Belgium

Iran's Jadidi attacks versus Belgium

Iran scored a comfortable three-set straight win over Belgium to open the FIVB Men's Junior World Championship being held in Pune. Barring some restances here and there, there was nothing much that Belgium could do against the smooth Iranian team. Iran, one of the top contenders of the 2009 World junior men volleyball championship title, got off to a flying start with an easy victory over Belgium, the 2009 World junior qualifier pool winner.

Iran was quite aggressive from the beginning, but Belgium managed a neck and neck battle till 7-7 in the first set. Then Iran broke away.

It was a similar show in the second set too. But Belgium fought well in this set with some good block by Verhees, the tallest man. Iran spikers Ghaemi, a left hander and Gheysi angled their shots well. Jadidi and Kamalvand combined well in double block. so was the towering Dejara. But in the third set Iran took off from 12-all and outperformed Belgium in attack and defence.
