Lima, Peru, July 30, 2011 - Peru beat Belgium 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 27-25) on Saturday in Lima, Peru, during the FIVB Volleyball Women´s Junior World Championship Peru 2011 5-8 classification semifinal round at Eduardo Dibos Gymnasium, sending the host team into the fifth-place match on Sunday against Dominican Republic. Belgium will play Slovakia for seventh place on Sunday.
Peru's top scorer was Grecia Herrada with 16 points in the match, next to Clarivett Yllescas with 14 points and Brenda Uribe with 13 points. Lise Van Hecke, the leading scorer throughout the tournament with 189 points, led Belgium with 23 points in the match, next to Valérie El Houssine with 13 points and Lorena Cianci with 10 points. Belgium held a 12-7 margin in service aces, but their 36 errors in the match offset the advantage.

The first set started in a good way for Peru. They were four points ahead thanks to Brenda Uribe´s spike (five points in the set). Belgium tried to get closer, and thanks to Linde Hervent´s spike, they scored their fifth point. However, the first technical time out was for Peru, thanks to Grecia Herrada´s spike (three points in the set) to 8-5. The set continued and Belgium tied the score at 13-all on Lorena Cianci´s spike (three points in the set) at the 13th point. Peru coach Natalia Malaga asked for their first time out and it worked to improve their spike (12 in the set). The second technical time out was for Peru at 16-14. Peru's dig got stronger (three in the set) and two points ahead. Belgium scored their 19th point because of Alexandra Muñoz´s spike error (two points in the set). In this moment, Peru scored three straight points and the set ending 25-19 to Peru in 23 minutes.
At the beginning of the second set, Belgium started four points ahead, but Clarivet Yllescas (three points in the set) hit a spike that reached a tie score. However, Peru reception problems of libero Maria Acosta insured the first technical time out for Belgium at 8-5. Belgium scored six straight points because of Peru´s dig problems (three in the set). The second technical time out was for Belgium at 16-13 because of Ginna Lopez service error (two points in the set). The set continued the same path until Peru reached the tie score at 23 points because of Sarah Coppens attack error (three points in the set). Belgium tried harder and thanks to Valérie El Houssine´s spike (two points in the set), the set ended 25-23 in 25 minutes.
The third set had a similar beginning as the previous set. Grecia Herrada hit the third Peruvian point and reached the tie score. The set continued and Belgium played harder than before. The first technical time out was for Belgium because of Uribe´s bad reception (one point in the set) at 8-6. Peru woke up and scored three straight points. Van Hecke scored her 13th point, but the South American team stopped their game and owned the second technical time out at 16-14 thanks to Grecia Herrada´s spike. Belgium scored three straight points and the set was 23-19 thanks to Lorena Cianci´s spike (three points in the set). Uribe´s spike held the 24th point for Peru. The set ended to 25-19 in 23 minutes.
The fourth set was tight again. The score was tied at 4-4 was scored by Coppens´ spike (two points in the set). Peru owned the eigth point thanks to Herrada´s serve and the first technical time out was for them. Belgium scored four straight points and within one point of Peru. Belgium reached tied the score at 15 points. Belgium committed a spike error and the second technical time out was for Peru. Belgium got their 24th point leading by three. At that point, Peru scored three points in a row thanks their good serve (one ace in the set) and their good attack (15 in the set). Belgium got the tie score at 25 points and the set was played until the 27th as it was defined because of Belgium´s spike error and Peru won the set 27-25 in 26 minutes.
