Press Conference Venezuela vs. Kenya

Everlyne Makuto, Captain of Kenya

“Our expectations were to win the match. After we lost the first two sets we came back fighting. We talked more and enjoyed the competition. Having participated in the tournament we have to go to Kenya and work harder.”

Daymari Brito, Captain of Venezuela

“It was a very tough match and Kenya showed they are a team that never gives up. They came in to battle and really did it. The first set was really a tough one. Now we can go back home with the taste of a win.”

Paul Bitok, Head Coach of Kenya

“We want to thank the organizers for a good tournament we had never seen before in Africa. Also thanks to FIVB for establishing this format of competition that allows teams of last places to continue playing until the last day. We have achieved a lot by playing with big teams since the start until the end. Is has been a great opportunity to grow. We have improved our attack and blocking but still need to better our reception. It has been a great experience.”

Sergio Rivero, Head Coach of Venezuela

“Very few times Venezuela or South American teams have the chance to play against African teams. One thing we learned from them is their enthusiasm for the game and the way they celebrate every point no matter the score. I am glad for the victory and also want to wish Kenya a very promising future in volleyball.”
