Brazil cruises past the enthusiastic Poland in the match of the day

Poland setter Wolosz in action
 Mexicali, Mexico, July 16, 2009-  It wasn’t an easy journey for the favorites Brazil in their first match against Poland in the first day of the 2009 Women ‘s Junior World Championship as they fought for 101 minutes to secure a 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-13, 25-20) victory at Auditorio del Estado Ciudad Deportiva hall in Mexicali, Mexico on Thursday.
 After Brazil won widely the first set, Poland emerged through the skillful setter Joanna Wolosz to win the second after a dramatic performance, then Brazil emerged again through the match scorer Isadora Rodriquez who scored 19 points to win 2 successive sets and the difficult match 3-1. From the Polish side the right attaker Tamara Kaliszuk was her team scorer with 16 points.
 Brazil worked well in the attack from the first point of the match after they organized the backline defense through the libero Leticia Pontes as well as the attacks through the wing spiker Isadora Rodriguez who did well as they go ahead 5-1 forcing the Polish coach to call timeout. Poland improved their block against the Brazilian attacks and succeeded to decrease the point deficit gradually. Brazil began to use the talent of the middle blocker Mara Ferreira to come over through the quick attacks from position 3 and thus Brazil advanced again to win the set 25-16.
 Poland improved a lot in the second set and maintains their leading till 16-10 at the STT due to the good work of the center Maja Tokarska and also the much improved backline defense. Poland had the upper hand in the net action specially after Brazil players committed several attacking mistakes. The strong attacker Tamara Kaliszuk with Tokarska led their team to reach the set point 24-19. Brazil players fought their best to save the set and scored three successive points till a block from Tokarska settled the set to Poland 25-22 and leveled the score 1-1.
 Brazil players felt the danger to lose the match so they regained their rhythm and improved their defense and the block against Poland attacks and again Isadora emerged in her skillful spike and played a great role in the big point deficit they lead from the start of the third set. Although Poland coach tried his best through three substitutions but Brazil had the upper hand in serving and attacking to win the set comfortably 25-13.
 The fourth set showed early come back from the Polish side and again using the opposite player Kaliszuk to lead 7-4 before Brazil scored 4 successive points that gave them the lead 8-7 at the FTT. The Brazilian middle blocker Leticia Hage emerged with her block and quick attacks until Poland team blocked her well at the middle of the net and used the disciplined reception and digging to build up the attacks that regained their lead 16-13 at the STT. The substitute Natiele spiked twice from the backline and served well to regain the enthusiasm to her team who led again 19-17. Afterwards Brazil controlled the match and continued the same till they won the set 25-20 and the match 3-1.
