Turkey eases past Mexico in a thriller five set encounter

Mexicali, Mexico, July 21, 2009- Turkey survived the sluggish start and rebounded successfully from one set behind to ease past the host team Mexico 3-2 (26-28, 25-14, 23-25, 25-16, 15-8) in the second day of the second round Pool F of the 2009 Women’s Junior World Championship held here at Auditorio del Estado Ciudad Deportiva hall in Mexicali, Mexico on Tuesday.
 Mexico used the first wind of the match effectively to dominate the net action against Turkey through their better backline defense as they led widely from the start till they reached 24-18 when they lost 6 successive set points before Turkey drew 24-24. Mexico did their best through Cecilia Rios and Andrea Rangel to win the long set 28-26.
The second set showed much improvement in the Turkish performance through their better digging and reception so they succeeded to build up the attacks through the setter Asuman Karakoyon which started her combinations to her spikers Nesve Buyukbayram and Elif Uzun who worked well until they won the set widely 25-14.
 The third set featured early dominance for the Turkish team through their better blocking against the Mexican attacks and also through the spikes of Gozde Yildrim. When it was clear that Turkey was in their way to win the set, the Mexican team recovered and showed brave performance when their center Cecelia doing a fantastic job to let her team overcome the big point difference to win the set 25-23.  
 Turkey regained the rhythm in the fourth set through their efficient opposite Polen Uslup who scored many critical points to lead her team to win the set 25-16.
 The tie break showed complete dominance for turkey due to the exhaustion of the Mexican players where Polen again showed her quality with Fatima Yildrim to bring up a wide win 15-8.
