Brazil meet Serbia & Montenegro in final

Ankara, Turkey, July 30, 2005 - Brazil and Serbia and Montenegro slipped into the final of the 2005 Junior Women's U20 World Championships, which will be held in Ankara on Sunday by beating Italy and China respectively in Saturday's semifinals.

World champions Brazil beat Italy 3-2 in a heart-pounding hard fought five setter and now are going unbeaten for their fourth consecutive title.

On the other hand, Serbia and Montenegro were the big surprise in reaching the final, in only their third participation in this competition, having crushed Asian champions China 3-1, in the second semifinal. They appear to be optimistic that they can stop champions Brazil, who beat them 3-1 on the last day of the Preliminary Round.

Therefore, those ones, who said that Pool A was more difficult and stronger, were right.

In classification matches, fired-up hosts Turkey overpowered Russia 3-1 thanks to the support of their fans in Istanbul, while Japan beat Puerto Rico by the same score.

The final will start at 19.00 local time in Attaturk Hall, Ankara and Italy will face China for the third place and bronze medal at 16.30 local time.

Turkey and Japan will also play for 5th place in Istanbul Haldun Alagas Sport Hall at 17.00 local time while Russia and Puerto Rico will play for 7th place at 14.30 local time.
