The next generation of volleyball stars
travelled to Brazil from August 1 to 10 as Rio de Janeiro
and Niteroi
played hosts to the 16th edition of the FIVB
Volleyball Men's Junior World Championship.
16 teams featuring the world's
finest Under 21 players strived to be top of the podium but it was Russia
who sealed gold with a win over Argentina in the final.
The tournament provides a platform for the next generation of
stars to showcase their skills on the international stage and potentially
take the big step into the giant world of the senior ranks.
Russia's success comes during a resurgence for their country across all
competitions and the talent and potential on show illustrates that they
will be in the top echelons of the sport for a long time to come.
