Team profile

Puerto Rico has qualified for their first FIVB Volleyball Men’s Junior World Championships since 1997. The team qualified after beating Cuba in the third place match during last year's NORCECA Championship.

This year's team has very young athletes that will also be eligible for the 2011 Boys Youth World Championship in Argentina. The senior team of Puerto Rico is currently ranked 16th in the FIVB World Ranking and play in the FIVB Volleyball World League for the first time this year.The Junior Team is an essential part of the Puerto Rico National Program.

Prof. Carlos Rodríguez is the coach with his experience in previous Boy’s Youth World Championships (2003, 2005, 2007).


Coach profile

Rodriguez is the youngest coaches in the history of Puerto Rico National Team. But this not is its first World Championship. He participates with coach in the 2007 FIVB Boys' Youth World Championship, also assistant coach in 2003 & 2009 Boys' Youth WC in Thailand and Italy.

The young coach goal is to equal or surpass the best performance of the National Team in this category.

“This team work hard. Also we have been able to evaluate the players with the Pan American Cup will hel las June in Panama” Rodriguez explains.

Also Rodriguez led the Volleyball School in hometown Caguas and has coaching experience in Puerto Rico National League, men's and women's.

"Our goals is advance to fist 8 qualification round, our pool is hard but not impossible."
