France’s superb back court defence which saw every spike of Poland and every placement and rebound keeping coming back. Later the Poland captain agreed that was big challenge for Poland as France’s defence was the real challenger for it.

After winning the second set taking 8-5 and 16-13 lead, France kept up that momentum and surged ahead in the third set too as Poland looked jaded, playing a rather dull game. Leading 8-6 and 16-8 in the third set France tightened its grip further with good block and reception. Poland was challenged for every point and Klos, a prolific scorer, who came in the third set tried to help Poland. But France’s defence stood well to take the third set too.

But Poland rallied strongly in the fourth with a 8-3 and 16-9 lead as if it was starting afresh. Poland, which was slow for sometime, became brisk and attack and defended strongly. Despite France’s late rally Poland made it 2 set-all by taking the fourth.

Poland continued its surge in the fifth with a 8-6 lead and 12-10. But France rallied with some short ball quick attack and Poland stumbled. But Poland quickly recovered and won the decider.
