Brazil secured a second round place, after a hard Canadian face off.
Brazil clinched a hard win against the no favorite Canada in a decisive match 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 26-24, 25-18) to secure a place in the second round .
Brazil team started the match in full strength to win the first set easily 25-16 after high performance of Michael Santos and Wallace Martins on the net. Canada couldn't face the activity of Brazil players by the net because of the inefficient block.
Canada Coach, Lary McKay managed his team in the second set to adjust the net defense by Brock Davidiuk and Mark Dodds to lead the second set from the start. Brazil team tried to catch the set in the last points by good back line defense specially the libero Leonardo Greca, but Canada could get the set 25-22.
The third set went very near all through as Canada team continued their solid block by Leo Carroll and Chris Meehan, the best blockers in the match, but the Brazilians felt fear of losing the match to increase their activity to catch a narrow win in the set 26-24.
In the fourth set it became hard for Canada to face the spikes of Samuel Fuchs, the scorer of the match to allow Brazil to get their second win and qualify to the second round.
